Thanksgiving is about a lot of things, but mostly, it is about giving thanks for the blessings in our life which is why you may want to find some coloring pages of Thanksgiving family pictures for your child to color and to spark conversation. You will want to teach your child – especially the little ones – about why we celebrate Thanksgiving. So, find some coloring pages of Thanksgiving family pictures and while they are coloring, talk to them about what might be going on in the picture.

Discuss with your child why the family in the picture might be giving thanks and what they might be giving thanks for. Then ask them what they are thankful for. Tell them what you are thankful for. Be sure and explain to them what being thankful means and why it is important to acknowledge the blessings in your life. It is also a good time to tell them how Thanksgiving got started and why we continue to celebrate it today.

You can find lots of coloring pages of Thanksgiving family pictures on the Internet that are free to download and then print from your home computer. Use your favorite search engine – we prefer Google – and type in “coloring pages of Thanksgiving family”. The search engine will come up with several places where you can find coloring pages for different holidays including Thanksgiving. When you look at these pages, pick out the ones you like and then download them to your computer. Then print them out and let your child go wild!

Another advantage to coloring pages of a Thanksgiving family is that you can also use them as templates for craft projects you may want to do. They can be used to follow as a diagram for some type of craft or incorporated into a collage or picture that you want to display on the holiday. A good way to incorporate coloring pages of a Thanksgiving family is to have your child color several different ones and then make them into placemats. Just glue the picture onto a larger piece of paper and you have a placemat. To make them even more durable, you may want to laminate them too. Laminating machines can be purchased quite inexpensively these days. If you are a big crafter, it can be a great investment!

Look around the Internet for the right coloring pages of a Thanksgiving family for your child to color or for you to use in your crafting projects. Then enjoy the creation and the holiday as well!

Fall is a special season of the year when the weather starts to turn colder and you want to try and find some great fun free Fall crafts for kids. Fall is my personal favorite time of the year. Right now, in the hot, steamy days of summer as I write this article, I long for sweatshirt weather when football games are played, cocoa is made, and the leaves begin to change colors. That is why you should find some free Fall crafts for kids – to commemorate a season that means so much to so many people!

Of course, fall is the time for Halloween and Thanksgiving, so many of the free Fall crafts for kids that you will find will center around these holidays. That means you will be making a lot of turkeys, pumpkins, scarecrows, and pilgrims! But when it is you and your child making these crafts, we are willing to bet that you will find a new perspective on crafting when you start making these free Fall crafts for kids with your children! Here’s a wonderfully easy and fun craft to get you started!

Here is a great and easy free fall crafts for kids called a stained glass turkey. Take a regular paper plate and paint it brown with regular poster paint. While you are waiting for the plate to dry, cut out about six elongated ovals from brown construction paper to make feathers for your turkey. About an inch from the edge of the feathers cut out the centers. Apply some glue (glue sticks work best here) to the edge of each feather. Lay a piece of tissue paper or colored cellophane on top of the glue and press to hold. Once the glue is dry, trim the feather around the edges.

Take each feather and glue to the paper plate. After that, you can either draw a face on your turkey with markers or cut out pieces of construction paper to make the face. Do not forget the legs and feet! Otherwise, how would your turkey walk? This craft looks especially great when you hang it in a window where the light can shine through the tissue paper or cellophane.

When looking for free fall crafts for kids, just look online for ones that you think will especially suit your family as well as the age group of child that you are catering to. Whether you are a teacher or a home schooling parent, you will want to teach your child about art, and having free fall crafts for kids available that they can make with you is a great way to do this.

Many cultures have a tradition of giving gift baskets. The traditional gift baskets started out as fruit baskets, though, and they were usually given at a house warming party or even at somebody’s wedding as a gift. Gift baskets that contain fruit can even be set out on the table so that it can be enjoyed by everyone who enters the home!

If you’re trying to decide on the perfect gift basket for one of your friends or acquaintances, though, a gourmet gift basket can be a good thing to give. Many people like receiving chocolate and in the American culture many people gift chocolate as a gift anyway. In addition, when creating a gourmet gift basket the first idea that probably popped into your mind was filling it with types of gourmet chocolate in the beginning. On the other hand, there are also a variety of other gourmet products that can all be safely purchased and gathered together in one small, or large, gift basket!

The First Gourmet Product: Chocolate

There are all kinds of varieties of gourmet chocolate to choose from and picking a few of your favorite gourmet chocolates to fill the gift basket with should be done in order to leave room for the other gourmet products. Nevertheless, a few of the gourmet chocolate brands around include The Godiva Chocolate Company, Christopher Norman Chocolates, MarieBelle New York gourmet chocolates, and Romanicos Chocolate. All of these can be great additions to your gourmet gift basket and will give anyone a great taste of the chocolates they have perhaps never experience before!

The Second Gourmet Product: Coffee

Gourmet Coffee is just as important to include in a gourmet gift basket. There are all sorts of brands of gourmet coffee to choose from. Whether you want Gevalia gourmet coffee, Jamaican coffee, Columbian gourmet coffee, or some of the other hundreds of types of coffee on the market, they are all available to include in the gourmet gift basket you’re creating. In addition, if you want to get more creative you could always buy other coffee products too, such as espresso and latte mixes.

The Third Gourmet Product: Cheese

Even though it doesn’t seem like cheese should be combined with coffee and chocolate, the gourmet cheese will stay with the theme of a gourmet gift basket. A few examples of gourmet cheese that can be added to the gift basket include Baby Gouda, Brie, Cabot, and Red Leaf Cheddar.

All three of these gourmet products are great to include in a gift basket if creating one that is made out of gourmet products. Another suggestion here, though, would be to take the gourmet gift basket idea one step further by creating three separate gift baskets filled with the gifts described above. That way the recipient will have three separate products to choose from, except they’ll have more of it. All in all, though, they are the perfect gift for any family member, friend, relative, or acquaintance if you’re not sure what to get.

When planning for any event there’s always going to be a certain amount of stress and a New Years Eve party is no exception. However there are some ways you can reduce the stress, so I’m going to share some tips with you to help you do that.

The food you’re going to serve at your New Years Eve party is going to be one of your primary concerns, and can be a lot of work if you plan on preparing the food yourself. If your budget will allow it, hire a catering service, as this will lessen your stress level considerably. To use a catering service you will need to spend a little time choosing the right one. First ask your friends or co-workers for recommendations, and if that doesn’t produce any results you can always turn to the yellow pages. Whoever you select you’ll want to sample some of their cooking and once you’ve made your choice you’ll need to go over the menu and delivery schedule with them. Now that you have the food situation handled you’ll be free to turn your focus to other things and you won’t have to worry about the food on the night of the party so you can enjoy yourself more.

If hiring a catering service is not in your budget there are still less expensive ways you can reduce the stress of food preparation. Since the party will start later in the evening you could plan to serve snack type of food such as finger foods, chips, pizza, appetizers, breadsticks, vegetable sticks, pretzels etc. All these foods can be prepared easily and quickly. If you have someone to help set it all out that can help even more.

Another low cost method would be to have a Potluck New Years Eve party, and then you would only need to supply some main dish and coordinate what your guests will bring so everyone doesn’t bring the same thing. It’s always a good idea to mention what type of food will be served on the invitation so guests know what to expect.

You can also reduce your stress level by making the party a casual event so you can enjoy a more relaxed environment. If you go casual you’ll spend less time worrying about what to wear, as you’ll have plenty of other party details to tend to so the less stress you put on yourself the better.

If you have plans to host a New Years Eve party you may want to think about making it a vegetarian New Years Eve party.

One reason why some party host may choose to serve vegetarian food is because they are a vegetarian themselves and may have some new dishes they want to try out on their friends. However if you don’t have a lot of vegetarian friends you may want to consider having some non-vegetarian dishes as well.

Some people choose to go the vegetarian route because it can also reduce the food expenses This can especially true if the crowd is expected to be pretty big. You may be surprised to know that many vegetarian dishes can be quite delicious if they are prepared the right way. The bottom line is people want to eat food that taste good, whether it’s a meat dish or a vegetarian dish.

Another reason some host will choose to go with vegetarian dishes as it may fit well with their party theme which may center around a particular diet. They also may consider the vegetarian dishes if they know the crowd that’s coming is very diet or health conscious.

If you do elect to host a vegetarian New Years Eve party, you will need to do some planning and make some preparations if you want to insure that the dishes prepared are totally vegetarian. This means not using any substitutes for any of the ingredients as this could end up adding animal fats. This can be avoided by using a good vegetarian cookbook and following the directions exactly as they are described.

If you have a lot of vegetarian friends and need to keep the costs down even more, you could consider having a vegetarian potluck party. If they are already vegetarians they will already have some great dishes they can prepare, but if they aren’t vegetarian your guest may feel a bit lost as what they should bring and may not prepare the dish exactly as the recipe describes. Whatever you decide just be sure to inform your guests of what type of food will be provided at the party so they know what to expect.

Having a live band at your New Years Eve party is an excellent choice for entertainment, as they will help keep the guests entertained throughout the evening. There are some things you will need to do in order to find a live band for your party.

If the band is really popular you may have difficulty booking them for your party unless they are booked well in advance as they are likely to booked up for possibly a year or more. Now if you know some local bands that are good or bands that are just getting started but are good, then you probably won’t need to book so far in advance. However it would still be best to book them at least 2-3 months in advance just to be sure you can get them.

The other thing you’ll need to consider is your budget, while getting a really popular band may be great, they are likely to be quite expensive so you may have to go with a less expensive band.

When choosing a band you’ll need to consider what style of music they typically play. You must consider what type of music your guests would like and not base it only on your own preferences.

You will want to choose a band that you have heard play before so that you are already familiar with their style and quality of music. If you want a live band but don’t know of any local ones that you’re familiar with then you’ll need to ask around to get recommendations and if possible go hear them play yourself or ask for one of their CD’s before making a decision. If you’re considering more than one band have them all send you a sample of their music so you can evaluate them. Ask some of your friends to listen with you and get their opinions as well so that you have some outside input. Once you’ve decided on a band be sure to carefully look over the contract they want you to sign so there are no nasty surprises later on.

If you’re going to have dancing you also must be sure you have enough floor space so that people can dance comfortably. You should also take into consideration the loudness of the speakers and the space for the band as well.

Most of us tend to think of a New Years Eve Party as only for adults but some people take their kids with them to a New Years Eve party as well. There are also some New Years Eve parties planned just for the kid also. Regardless of whether it will be an all kids New Years Eve Party or one where the kids come with parents there are some considerations that should be taken into account when planning your party.

The first thing that comes to mind would be the alcohol consumption because of course you don’t want the kids drinking alcohol, so you need to plan your beverages accordingly. While having some soda or juices for the kids you could also make them feel more a part of the party by serving them mock-cocktails. These drinks will look just like the real thing yet won’t contain any alcohol. You’ll also want to have special festive cups just for the kids so they don’t accidentally pick up a real drink instead. You also may want to place a drink limitation on the adults so they don’t get too drunk while at the party.

Food will be another thing you have to consider, as you’ll want to have food that kids will eat. We all know kids can sometimes be very picky about what they eat. I don’t know any kid who doesn’t like hot dogs or pizza so you should be sure to include those on your menu. Appetizers such as pizza rolls or miniature hot dogs and tacos are also likely to please both kids and adults. You can also make some small peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and trim the crust off of them so the kids will eat them.

With kids at the party you’ll also have to remember that they are not usually up until midnight and will start getting tired early in the evening. So it would be a good idea to have a room prepared for them to sleep in and someone who will be available to watch them until they all go to sleep. Then have a baby monitor in the room so you can hear them if one of them should wake up for any reason. Then the adults can continue on enjoying the party and celebrating the New Year in at midnight.

Choosing to go with a theme for your New Years Eve party can be a lot of fun but just be aware that it will also require more work getting things coordinated to be sure everything flows together like it should.

You will need to incorporate the theme of the party into everything such as invitations, food, drinks decorations, entertainment, music, and party attire. You’ll want to give guests the option of dressing appropriately for the theme and perhaps acting like a certain character, or dress the way they want to and just enjoy all the party as to offer their own way.

Your themed party doesn’t have to be related to the holiday it can be anything you want. For instance say you choose to go with the Wild West theme. You can have fake guns, cowboy hats and saddles spread around the room. Then you could have white/red-checkered tablecloths on the tables. You could have the invitations in the shape of saddle or perhaps a cowboy hat. You could ask your guests to dress in theme related attire and have country western music playing. For entertainment you could do some county western dances such as ’swing your partner’, dosey-doh, line dancing and many other country western style dances.

You would also want the food items to be theme related as well. You could serve things like Chili, stew or have traditional appetizers but put some tag in front of them with some country type names just to make it more fun. For instance you could call egg rolls ‘bales of hay’ or mini pizzas ‘wagon wheels’, and you could call mini sausages ‘logs’. You may be surprised how creative you can be. Beer could be served in thick glass mugs for the old-fashioned beer mug look.

Perhaps you prefer to with a more elegant party theme. You could have your guests come dressed like a movie star attending some fancy event where they would all be dressed up in elegant attire. You could put out some red carpet for guests to walk on as they arrive and have the tables covered with fine linen and fancy dishes. Strobe lights could be placed around the room to give it that star-studded atmosphere. If possible have the party catered to give it that added luxury flair.

The Christmas tree is one of the most recognizable icons of the holiday season. Buyers of these most sought after decorations basically have one question to consider: Should I buy a real evergreen or an artificial Christmas tree. Hopefully, a little thought and some browsing around on the Internet will help you make a decision.

The first consideration you want to make is you own personal tastes. If you are a stickler for tradition then you will most likely be drawn to the traditional live Christmas tree. There are many beautiful varieties available during the holiday season and you can even order a real evergreen tree online.

The live evergreen holiday decoration is ideal for the traditionalist and it is also a great item to consider if you are short on storage space. If you have a cramped attic and you basement is overflowing with stuff, then a real Christmas tree is a great choice. You don’t have to worry about stocking it away after the season.

The fragrance that the live Christmas tree brings into the home is magnificent and there are some who really make a strong connection between this scent and the holiday season. For some, there is no other choice than a real live evergreen for their Christmas decorating needs.

However, plenty of people prefer to use artificial trees to decorate their homes. The artificial Christmas tree is the perfect choice for someone who likes to keep things well organized during the off season. In no time at all, you can have your home decorated for the holidays when you have everything you need in stock.

The artificial variety also offers a lot of interesting colors and designs that you just can’t find in nature. If you have your heart set on a pink Christmas tree, you have to go with the artificial approach. There are tons of options available and you can have a very colorful composition by using this kind of decoration.

How about convenience? There are even pre-lit Christmas trees that are a cinch to set up in your home. You don’t have to worry about dealing with fussy wires and tangled lights when you choose the pre-lit version. This kind of Christmas tree comes in two basic forms: ones lit with traditional bulbs and ones that are fiber optic.

With all of the decisions that we have to make during the holidays things can get pretty stressful. I do have one suggestion. You might want to opt for having both. The real evergreen can be displayed in your living room while the artificial Christmas tree can be placed in your game room. This is the ideal approach to decorating a home for the holidays.

Christmas has been over for a few weeks now and I’m still driving around my town and seeing Christmas lights being displayed. I don’t mind the pretty little white lights that I actually think could be appropriate for the winter season. I do mind the little colored blinking lights that should have been taken by now. I have been told, more than once, that Christmas lights can stay up for the entire month of January, not just December. Okay, if that is the case – I’m thinking that by February 1st, they should all be packed away in tangled balls for next December. Even worst than seeing Christmas lights this many weeks after the holiday has passed, is seeing the giant Santas and reindeer in people’s yards. One of my neighbors enjoys littering their entire yard and rooftop with tons of decorations for the season. I personally couldn’t be paid enough money to put any of it on my property, but to each their own. This yard still displays a Santa, a reindeer, candy canes, North Pole signs and tons of other things that aren’t just for winter, they are all about Christmas. The most humorous part though is that they still have the giant sleigh on top of their roof lit up every single night. I can’t even imagine what their phone bill is right now. I am tempted to take all of it down and put it on their front porch.
Why do people leave Christmas lights and decorations up? Is it laziness? Is it that they believe that until a certain date it is acceptable? I can’t answer that. I know that on New Year’s Day, my household takes down and puts away all of the Christmas decorations. All of the Christmas lights get taken down and put away as well. I decorate for winter with snowmen and décor around my house. I wish that my neighbors would get the hints. I do leave my white candles in my windows until the winter is drawing to an end. There is nothing prettier than snow falling and seeing the soft glow of candles from the windows of houses. Plus, it makes for a great nightlight in some of the rooms – an added bonus in my household. My toddler loves when I leave hers on until I go to bed. She thinks it is the most wonderful thing in the world.

If you’re one of those people out there who hasn’t put away your Christmas lights or decorations, do your neighbors a favor and pack them up. Maybe you think that it is acceptable for Santa and the season to hang around until Valentine’s Day, but that doesn’t mean that everyone around you shares that opinion. Save some money on your electric bill. Use the extra money to be some less tacky Christmas lights and decorations for the next time Christmas rolls around.
